Cookies

In general, I do not issue cookies. I never require the acceptance of a cookie. The only time I will attempt to issue a cookie is when you enter the bookmarker subsystem. This cookie is used to maintain the current state of your login. If you do not plan to login, you can reject this cookie and continue as usual. You may also login without this cookie, but you will find that you need to re-enter your login information whenever you load a new page.

Server Logs

The web server stores a variety of information about each connection. In particular, it makes note of the ip address you are connecting from, when the connection was made, the browser you are using, the page you came from, and the page you are requesting. I periodically scan my log files for statistical information, but do not release the specifics.

The oldtools archive carries its own privacy statement which is completely consistent with this one

Standards Compliance

I have tried hard to make this site completely compliant with the HTML 4.0 spec. On most pages, you'll see a link at the bottom to validate the HTML and CSS that result in the pages you see. Please let me know if you hit a page that doesn't render well using any browser.

Software

The software used on this site was in general collected from other folks. The stuff the I did myself basically makes use of the PHP scripting language, the perl language, the MYSQL database engine, and an occasional shell script. My develpoment platform is RedHat Linux 7.1 running on a variety of AMD Athlons. My host is a RedHat 6.2 server running on an x86 box of some sort.

This site is hosted by PHPWebHosting. They are unbelievable. All the space and traffic you could need, databases, subdomains, php, cgi, etc.. Best of all - cheap and non-Microsoft...
